Villa Marceline

The almost 200 year old property was completely and patiently restored over a 3 year period and is now available for the rental market for the first time ever in 2009. The property, one of the coasts largest, offers a small, private, gated parking area for two cars, located just outside the front door. The main villa is a 5 story villa, but there are an additional 6 levels of terrace space which can be used by the guests, which go directly down to the water front. There is 15,000 sq. feet of private park with one’s direct access to the sea. Arrival to the villa is possible both by land and directly by sea. The entrance level of the villa has an entrance foyer, living room, and one bedroom with double bed and loft with a pull out sofa for a child. The entrance hallway is filled with décor pieces, paintings, and cast-iron candelabra, and leads into the living room, which is a comfortable space with a functional fireplace and great views abounding. All of the 8 bedrooms are relatively standard in size and amenities, offering independently controlled air conditioning, LCD Satellite TV, a safe, parquet floors, small refrigerators, a dresser, built-in closet space, flat screen TV’s, and beautiful, brand-new ceramic tile bathrooms. The bedrooms and bath linens are coordinated with the colors of the bedrooms and two of the bedrooms offer small balconies. There is one bedroom on the ground floor, three on both the second and third floors (two with Jacuzzi bathtubs, four with showers), and one on the first terrace floor (with shower) which leads down to the waterfront. The property, although very large, is quite easy to navigate and there are only 22 steps from the ground floor up to the second, 15 from the second to the third, and 12 from the third to the roof-top terrace on the top floor. The top floor of the property is a roof-top deck with an enormous parquet floor open space (roughly 4000 square feet) offering various dining tables and sun umbrellas and a full kitchen unit with a dishwasher and refrigerator. The roof-top deck views are amazing and go as far as the eye can see, out over the Mediterranean and clear blue-green waters below. The first of many large terrace areas is preceded by a secondary living room, the main kitchen, the 8th bedroom, and the main, external dining area. The kitchen boasts an intercom system, a 5-range stovetop, a large oven, flat screen TV, large refrigerator/freezer, espresso machine, microwave, dishwasher, and small island with 2 chairs. The kitchen enjoys direct access out onto a covered, super-panoramic dining terrace with a large wood dining table for 16. The secondary living room boasts a 60-inch flat screen TV and several comfortable sofa chairs and an oval wood, breakfast table. There is also a loft, queen bedroom, 11 steps up from the living room, with large en-suite bathroom with shower. The living room leads out to a long, lit corridor bringing you to an enormous, second covered dining area with more than plenty of seating and table space. From this spot, a long, stone staircase descends, leading you to the various terrace levels that continue directly to the water’s edge. Each terrace is reached by a set of 25 steps which divides them and all of the terraces are enormous in space (roughly 6 meters wide x 200 long). The first two terrace areas are divided between fruit and vegetable gardens and a large, lemon garden. The third terrace area is a great, sunbathing and relaxing space with various areas filled with lounge chairs, table and chairs, & orange trees. There is a new sauna located inside a stone grotto with a massage table and a changing room with ½ bath, and a small kitchen unit as well. There is also a bathroom. From here you have two options, either down 18 steps to the most panoramic Jacuzzi on the Amalfi Coast (an enormous Jacuzzi with 4 external bar stools and bar area, or down a set of 35 steps to a waterfront covered dining area offering various dining tables with chairs, about as waterfront as you can get without falling into the water. From this waterfront dining area, another set of 35 steps leads you to a gate where two, large, private concrete sunbathing platform areas abound, allowing you to swim directly into the Mediterranean – simply stunning.
