Villa Pyrgadikia

Imagine a house sinking in a blending of sea and mountains; a house, which, like a miniature universe, catches the attention of cheerful occupants and rewards them with freedom, inspiration and ease of living. This place would combine the warmth of permanence with the fragrance of adventure. The transparent heaven would penetrate the house like a magical gas, inviting its guests to forget everything. White, with gray and juicy spots, modern and deprived of the familiar local romanticism, the house seems rather colder than it is in reality. It is like a responsible personality, which outwardly is soundly built and well measured, but inwardly is warm, tender and adventurous. Once you open the door, you enter a spacious and elegant lounge, which looks like it has no limitation on space. Well-structured architectural decisions allowed to unite a hall, kitchen, two bedrooms and toilet on the first floor. Another floor includes three bed-rooms, an extra toilet, massive balcony and a small show-window, through which you can observe stars at night. Also, the house has a glassy ceiling, which embellishes the property with uniqueness and individuality. It is apparent that it was built by an energetic person, who was an enthusiastic traveller and family man. He was a typical man, with Greek ‘blood and spirit’, with his moderately traditional views and always willing to absorb the most interesting things, regardless of their nationality and whereabouts. Evidently, the house is bearing the signs of love of its owners to travel. He had lived in Florence for 10 years; she had spent her youth in Australia; their son lives in England. As a consequence, they visit new cities and enjoy new impressions. The rooms reveal mugs from Prague, sculptures from Lisbon, a portrait from Paris and a wreath from Australia. A fire-place, which is built from rose Portugal marble, gives the house an exceptional tone whereby creating a perfect combination of wood and stone. The place allows children to play freely and gives them the opportunity to release their energy without apprehension. They can be left without close supervision because the territory can be easily observed from above. Whilst on the private beach, you can only be disturbed by the shadows of flying-by birds. In evenings, you can stage improvised theatres, parties or carnivals. You can offer your guests fresh fruits, fish and scrumptious local bread. You can even make your own discoveries if you hire a boat and navigate to Athos or two other islands located just a half-an-hour sail from the house. Another wonderful quality of this place is good sleep. The tranquillity of the place can only be breached by the sound of the sea and the singing of birds. Its owner says: “you can always find noise, but it is so uncommon to have this serenity”.
