Villa Angelo

Those familiar with Capri will know that this beautiful island is not an easy one to get around. Few properties are easily reached without the trials of steep slopes and endless steps. Some are only accessible on foot. Angelo is blessed with countless privileges and comforts on this account. The villa is easily accessible both on foot (by crossing the famous little piazza, full of colourful Mediterranean flowers and plants), or by car (there is a car park on the villa’s grounds). It’s fabulous position right by the Bay of Marina Piccola allows it to offer one of the best terraces on the whole island of Capri and enjoy the sunrise each morning. It is surely the right place to organize a cocktail party or a dinner for a special event. This lovely property was built in 1903 by the infamous Italian architect from Milan, Gallozzi, in the times when Capri was governed by the North of Italy, with the majority of its directives came straight from Milan. Gallozzi chose the position and building structure according to his personal tastes. In fact, he decided to build the villa in a strategic and comfortable position, taking advantage of the second-to-none view out over the Mediterranean and the world famous Faraglioni rocks, between the sea and the main square of Capri. He built this masterpiece from nothing, as no building structure existed before the construction of Angelo. In fact, almost every piece of furniture on the grounds are antique, with several of the pieces engraved from the 17 & 1800’s, and much of the pavement is ceramic or marble tile from the 1700’s. As time passed, this property became the true refuge of writers, directors, and artists from the 1900’s, as numerous Royal parties took place on its grounds. Many famous artists since the 50’s have been desirous of visiting Angelo to depict, with their own artisan strokes, the Baia of Marina Piccola and the Faraglioni rocks (both blatantly visible from every angle of the Villa) on their own canvases. The bedrooms, living room, and dining room are all furnished in a style dating back to the 1700’s. The villa has housed numerous actors and international jet setters, allowing each guest to dance the night away on the wonderful terraces with the islands’ most amazing views on the Faraglioni rocks, the Fisherman’s Grotto , unghia marina, the rocks of the Sirens, Punta di Mulo, and Monte Solaro. The first floor boasts 3 bedrooms, two doubles and a twin, all with en-suite baths. The first 3 bedrooms upstairs. First is a large double bedroom with great views out over the bay of Capri, hardwood floors, fireplace and en-suite bath with bathtub. The second bedroom is a twin bedroom with en-suite bath with shower and small annex room with chairs accessing a small terrace. The third is a double bedrooms with en-suite bath with great marble tub, gold fixtures, and hardwood floors. Down a flight of 20 steps lined with antique roman décor pieces takes one to the double living room with hand-made ceramic tile floors, antique fireplace, sofas, chairs, and antique abounding. There is also a small annex TV room with satellite TV and stereo system. The 5-meter high, wood beam ceiling living room accesses a dining room with a long oak wood table for 8. The dining room, furnished in a style dating back to the 1700’s, is accentuated by a large fireplace with Persian rugs that light up the room, while the magnificent sea view is ever-present. This room leads out directly onto a terrace equipped for outdoor dining with rectangular dining table for 8 and great views. The dining room, to the side, also accesses the comfortable kitchen directly, furnished with a dining table and 4 chairs, 5 range stove top, oven, dishwasher, toaster, scale, and blender. There is also a storage room with 2 refrigerator/freezer units and wash machine, as well as a ½ bathroom between the kitchen and dining room. There are also 2 guest annexes located off of the terrace. The first is a twin bedroom (great for kids, young teenagers, or guest staff). This bedroom has en-suite facilities with an all-in-one shower unit. The second bedroom also enjoys en-suite facilities with a shower box, as well as a third, single bed and a small 2-range kitchen unit and small bar refrigerator. The super-panoramic garden area is divided into various zones, all interconnected. Numerous lemon trees, pine trees, natural Mediterranean vegetation, palm trees, and Bougainvillea abound and the views are some of the best on the Island – directly over the Faraglioni Rocks on Capri. The main terrace, with its splendid white, Roman columns, is one of the focus points of the terrace. It bounds several small, cast-iron cocktail tables and chairs and access to another external dining area with royal table for 14 and a small, shaded lounge area. Ceramic bench seating area and stone coffee table are found at the far end of the terrace. Access: The villa can be reached directly from the street without any external steps (possibility to driver to the door) or by approximately 70 steps lead from the gate at the entrance of the property up to the main entrance.
